  • NSW Blues and Queensland Maroons to clash at Optus Stadium June 23, 2019
  • Proudly supported by McGowan Government through Tourism Western Australia

Arguably Australia’s biggest sporting rivalry will be on display on Sunday, June 23, with game two of the 2019 Rugby League State of Origin series at Optus Stadium.

Tickets go on sale tomorrow, and are expected to be snapped up, for the first-ever State of Origin game in Perth.

The 2019 game will be only the 10th time in State of Origin history that part of the series has been played outside New South Wales or Queensland.

The State Government, through Tourism Western Australia, secured next year’s Rugby League State of Origin game in partnership with Optus Stadium operator VenuesLive.

General public tickets go on sale from 10 am Wednesday, July 18 (WST) with prices starting from $48. For more information visit, www.NRL.com

Comments attributed to Deputy Premier Roger Cook:

“Western Australians have proven they have a strong appetite for Rugby League, with NRL games in Perth growing in popularity.

“We are expecting thousands of fans to make the trip west to be at the game, and millions more to watch the live television broadcast.

“Hosting the game on a Sunday will give interstate fans travelling the chance to spend the weekend in Perth or extend their stay in WA, delivering a massive boost for the economy.”

Comments attributed to Acting Tourism Minister Bill Johnston:

“This is a great way to bring people to our city and show off Perth’s transformation to players, officials and fans alike.

“Events like the NRL State of Origin are important because they bring in visitors and attract national media attention. Supporting blockbuster sporting events is a key part of the McGowan Government’s Two-Year Action Plan.”
